Powertalk Nelson-Waimea

Welcome to Powertalk Nelson-Waimea Club . . .

Powertalk affords you the opportunity to grow mentally which means that you can be more of what you want to be

Powertalk Nelson-Waimea has a young revitalizing leadership at the helm with newly elected President, Daniel, and Treasurer, Thushari. Both Daniel and Thushari and have taken up the challenge to breathe fresh new life into the club and lead by example.

Powertalk Nelson-Waimea was established 43 years ago as an Effective Communication club where members could gain confidence and learn valuable life and social skills for the home and workplace.

Our club has gone through a number of changes over 43 years and, with Daniel’s appointment as President, has ticked all the boxes as a modern multi-cultural 21st Century Club with members coming from all walks of life and many different areas of NZ, UK, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.

Daniel brings his professional training into the arena with marketing and business skills, while Thushari: brings her professional banking background and administration expertise. Thushari has proven how well Powertalk works, as she represented club at the 2019 National Speech Contest gaining third place and was also presented with the prestigious Cosmopolitan Speech Contest Award at conference in Australia 2019.

We learn the art of public speaking and develop good communication skills in a relaxed and friendly environment with a Powertalk international speakers' club.

We are a friendly club with members ranging in age from a young mum to an octogenarian. Everyone is welcome, no matter your age or gender.

New members and guests are always welcome at our clubs: there is no charge for visitors, who will not be pressed to speak unless they really wish to! Our clubs are open to everybody. No dress code - come as you are. We provide opportunites for growth that show immediate results.

We are always delighted when guests and visitors come along to our meetings: if you are not sure about becoming a member, come along and check us out; you are allowed three visits before having to make a decision.

We meet twice a month on the first and third Monday at the Town Hall, Cambridge Street, Richmond. Meetings start at 9.30am and finish at 11am approximately and can vary from a structured meeting to a poetry reading in the park or a theme evening interwoven with a potluck tea!

. . . become the poised and confident person you have always wanted to be

We would be delighted to hear from you so please feel free to contact us at any time.
